Summary:

  1. Average small-town restaurant fare, friendly but inept service, slipping standards.

Details:

  1. Positives:

  2. Friendly staff

  3. Wide menu selection

  4. Flamboyant, open decor

  5. Negatives:

  6. Food quality is ‘70s diner

  7. fundamentals like water and coffee are iffy

  8. Quality control is highly variable.

  9. Sanitation is questionable.

  10. Facility is deteriorating.

  11. We had three breakfasts at Cafe USA:

  12. Cafe USA’s  coffee is bland and nearly tasteless.

  13. Cafe USA’s waffles get high marks for flavor.

  14. The “Grand Old Faithful” breakfast, a melange of diced ingredients served over hash-browns and topped with eggs, tasted mostly of burned meat and grease.

  15. Biscuits and Gravy was stale biscuits served with competent (but probably canned) pepper gravy.

  16. The water glasses were served so dirty on the outside that they left a brown condensation ring on the table. There was visible grime on the printed cola logo on the glasses.

  17. The facilities are suffering from normal wear-and-tear left un-repaired. There are long-broken tiles in the floor, rips in the upholstery and a general aura of slap-dash maintenance.  Surfaces are sticky and the paint is coming off the main entry doorway.

Conclusion:

Cafe USA appears to be suffering from inattentive management. As a result, their business volume suffers – on a holiday Sunday morning, prime breakfast-out time, when other restaurants are operating near capacity, Cafe USA was operating at perhaps 20% of capacity.
